About Us

BACKGROUND

Founded in 1911, Gorthaganny N.S. is situated in the parish of Loughglynn, Co. Roscommon. Our school is approximately 8km from Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo, and 14km from both Castlerea and Ballaghaderreen, Co. Roscommon. Our school caters for boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 12.

BACKGROUND

Founded in 1911, Gorthaganny N.S. is situated in the parish of Loughglynn, Co. Roscommon. Our school is approximately 8km from Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo, and 14km from both Castlerea and Ballaghaderreen, Co. Roscommon. Our school caters for boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 12.

 
 

We endeavour to cater for the full and harmonious development of each child attending our school. While the religious beliefs of all children attending this school are respected, the school is under the patronage of the Bishop of the Elphin Diocese, and Religious Instruction is an integral part of the school curriculum.



AIMS  

The aims of our school are briefly stated as follows:

· To enable the child to live a full life as a child

· To equip him/her to avail himself/herself of further education so that he/she may go on to live a full and useful life as an adult in society.

We have a large football pitch, basketball court and play area to the rear of the school. The Senior classes play here during break times.
