Welcome back! The children came back to school at the end of August and have been very busy. We went for a walk around Errit Lake to mark Hedgerow Week - good job we had our wellies as it was very mucky! Wen had a visit from Ciaran, who is our Green School Travel Coordinator. We are working on our fourth green flag under the theme of travel. Just before the Halloween break, Garda Deirdre came to visit. She spoke to us about how to stay safe this Halloween. She also chatted about the importance of wearing our seatbelts.
We were learning about Greece and the Olympics so the children got to sample some Greek food including olives and feta cheese.
We had a busy time in the run up to Christmas. The children were getting excited about Santa, particularly as our theme was Toys. The children got to talk about their favourite toys, look at toys from the past and everyone enjoyed watching this years Late Late Toy Show. The children were also busy making decorations and treats to sell in the Marian Hall for the popular Christmas Market.
The term finished up with a festive assembly and raffle with lots of children bringing home some lovely prizes.
Such a busy start to the new year!. We've had Olympians, Green Schools, Creative Schools, Family Day and First Confession. The class have packed a lot into this term, most notably their rendition of Elton John's I'm Still Standing that they performed for family and friends at the Family Day held in March.
Once again we had a lovely end of term with our annual Easter Egg raffle and there was a huge cheer from our room when one of our students won the big prize on the day! Yummy!
The children really enjoyed practicing their mental maths on the iPads. Ms Coyle and Mr Healy even had a go!
For SESE this week the children were exploring and investigating the school grounds. They found lots of minibeasts and bugs and got to look at some close up with the view finders.
October was a busy month in Ms. Coyle's room. The children spent are really enjoying all the extra reading that is happening this term.
Halloween was the highlight of the month. The children learned about the origins of Halloween with Ms. Lisa. They painted some beautiful fireworks which looked really impressive on black paper. The month finished up with the children coming into school in costumes. We had The Riddler, Batman, a mermaid skeleton, some witches, ninjas and lots of zombie creatures!
November and December were busy months! We all enjoyed Science Week with the Rainbow Walking Water Experiment being a class favourite.
There was banana muffin baking with Lisa with the whole class enjoying the fruits of their labour.
The highlight of the month had to be our class trip to Supermacs thanks to Ella winning us a pizza making experience - even the teachers got to make their own Yummy!
In January we were delighted to have Mrs. Collins teach us some rhythms on the bongos. We also started work on Creative schools and were treated to some hot chocolate.
There was lots of maths in February. The children were learning about weight and looking at floating and sinking in science. Mrs. Collins was teaching us the N17, Memories agus Beidh Aonach Amarach.
March was Seachtaine na Gaeilge month. We were lucky enough to be invited into Ballyhaunis Library for a puppet show, An Bradán Feasa. We took to the boards in Kilmovee as part of he Féile Drámaíochtawith our play Anraith Cloiche. There was great excitement as we made it through to the Connacht finals.

Creative Schools week meant lots of creative activities including a wood turning demo, drumming workshop, sugarcraft demo and workshop and a dance class. The month ended with the First Holy Communion.
